The 13th edition of Artecinema, the International Film Festival curated by Laura Trisorio, will be held in Naples in the very downtown Theatre Augusteo (1400 seats), from October 16 to 19, 2008.
On free entrance and catalogue (Italian/English), Artecinema is the first genre festival in Italy and represents an indispensable appointment since 1996. Internationally renown for its valuable cultural and educational standing, Artecinema is supported by public authorities and private sponsors.
Artecinema is composed by three sections (Around Visual Art, Architecture, Photography) and presents documentaries from 15 to 100 minutes, often national or absolute premieres.
Thirty are the selected films for the 13th edition, with screenings from 5 pm to midnight, with no repeats, in original language (simultaneous translation in Italian on headphones).
At the same time with the awaited solo show by Louise Burgeois at Naples Museo di Capodimonte that will open in the same days of the festival, Artecinema will present on European premiere The Spider, The Mistress and The Tangerine (colour, USA; 99’, beta), a full length feature film on the life and the artworks of the celebrated French-US sculptor, signed by Marjon Cajori and Amei Wallach, writer and art critic for NY Newsday.
Coming directly from prestigious London film distribution ITV Productions, directed by Lucy Allen, Artecinema presents Damien Hirst: Addicted to Art, a portrait of the phenomena of Young British Art in the unexpected role of art collector.
Absolute premiere is the movie Ettore Spalletti (director Pappi Corsicato, Italy, dvd/pal, 2008, 21’45’’) an Artecinema production: a quiet, elegant, dreamy incursion into the genius of the famous Italian artist who was four time invited to Venice Art Biennial and is present in the most important International Fine Arts museums.
The out the shot artist’s voice is leaving with us for a journey over the time, where his childhood memoirs mix with thoughts about the nowadays world, painting and colour.
