Le photographe et artiste néerlandais Ruud-Van-Empel, reconnaissable entre tous avec ses oeuvres si particulières, nous invite à entrer dans son monde et son travail d’une finesse exceptionnelle. Les oeuvres de Ruud Van Empel sont plus que de simples photographies elles sont l’entrée dans tout un monde onirique dans lequel les effluves d’un paradis perdu viennent se répandre.
Pour arriver à ce résultat, Ruud Van Empel utilise de nombreux procédés variés dont l’informatique, le collage mais aussi la construction de décor.
Cette exposition succède sa participation à l’exposition “Diana and Actaeon, The Forbidden glimpse of the naked body” au Musee Kunst Palast de Dusseldorf aux côtés de maitres commes Pierre Bonnard, Gustav Klimt, Pablo Picasso, et des travaux d’autres artistes de sa génération comme Marlene Dumas, Cindy Sherman et Eric Fischl. Cette année il expose aussi à New-York, Prague et Dusseldorf. A l’occasion de cette exposition une nouvelle publication de l’artiste sera présentée préfacée par Maartje van den Heuvel, de l’Université de Leiden.

Dutch visual artist Ruud van Empel (1958) hardly needs any introduction. He is a true creator of new atmospheres. His famous images of a hallucinatory world in which often children take a pose, are beyond the creation of computerized photographs.
Not surprisingly he participated in 2008/09 in the prestigious exhibition “Diana and Actaeon, The Forbidden glimpse of the naked body” at the Museum Kunst Palast in Düsseldorf. Besides works by the “classics” of old art history, like Peter Paul Rubens, the show presents works by masters as Pierre Bonnard, Gustav Klimt, Pablo Picasso, as well as work by contemporary artists, like Marlene Dumas, Cindy Sherman and Eric Fischl.
Beginning this year four solo-exhibitions of the internationally renowned artist Ruud van Empel shall be held: in New York, Tokyo, Prague, Düsseldorf and Paris. The show in Paris comprises his most recent works Dawn, World 2008, Souvenir and Monument (sculptures). A new publication with an introduction on the artists work by drs. Maartje van den Heuvel, head Special Collections, University Library, Leiden will accompany the exhibition. 88 pages in length, it will be issued in an English edition.
